I really enjoyed this book, and am grateful Readers First gave me the opportunity to read it, as it is not the type of book I would usually be drawn to, especially when it has a quote about feminism on the front.
This is undoubtedly a book with a strong feminist message, but for once this didn't feel preachy, and was just one element of the story.
The story is set in different periods between the 1970s and 2018 with different chapters flitting between the two, charting the career of photographer Veronica (Vee) Moon, and her friend and activist Leonie. The 2018 part of the book is focused on a retrospective exhibition of Vees work, being curated by Leonie's niece Erica. The book flows really well, despite being set at different times, and the openings to each section provide great historical context. The relationships between the characters are engaging and well written.
Wasn't expecting to like it, but I really did!
