I was definitely unsure when I read this book. I know I'm probably not the intended audience being only 23 when the main character is about to turn 40. A lot of the concerns the main character, Kate, is facing are ones I personally can't relate to. And yet, I still found myself rooting for character. Finding things to like in Kate isn't hard and the way she acts really makes the reader hope everything works out for her. There's a few instances where you can't quite believe the way she's acting but the way the author writes makes you almost understand the motivation behind her actions.
Cecily is a wonderful character. She's brilliantly written and brilliantly portrayed and honestly, if I was ever doubting whether I wanted to continue the book, I convinced myself I'd at least read until the next part with Cecily. The ending is touching and generally a beautiful way to finish the book.
Generally speaking, the book moves at a fast enough pace but around the middle for me, there's a little bit of a lull in pace that could have been possibly shortened.
But in general, I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would and would definitely recommend it.
