There were parts of this book that I loved, mainly Cecily. She was the perfect mix of slightly harsh but ultimately well-intentioned. I liked how she was trying to teach Kate about life to enable Kate to make better decisions about her own life. She felt like the kind of older mentor that everyone needs in their life. You could feel the positive influence she had on it.
There were some sections of the book which had great quotes in them and described perfectly how I have felt recently around a friend who is dating someone particularly awful.
I thought the author was overly harsh to the character of Cara. I think ultimately she had Kate's best interests at heart. The fact that she was stated as one of the problems seemed a little unfair.
Overall, the book was an easy read and I liked that eventually Kate did realise that she deserved more.
