Very promising.
Reading the synopsis of 'These Days' made me realise that in all the reading I've done (fiction and non-fiction) about the destruction caused during the bombing of many British cities, I've never come across any accounts of the Belfast Blitz. It was clearly a very significant, and devastating, event so why has it faded from public consciousness? The powerfully evocative first chapters of this novel introduce the reader to interesting characters who will shine a light, albeit fictional, on how that event had a long-lasting effect on both the lives of individuals and the city.
I haven't read any of the author's earlier work but her writing style appeals so I'm sure I'd enjoy this novel if I'm lucky in the draw!
