This is such a great read I was really impressed with it. Set in Belfast in 1941 and around the time of World War 11 and the Belfast blitz. I was really interested to learn about this time in history as I was not aware of events around this time. I felt that I learnt a lot and I felt that the author had researched this time very well. I thought the story was well written and I liked the character developments. The story follows two sisters Emma and Audrey and their lives around these four days of bombings. The novel also follows a family during this time who the head of the family is Doctor Philip Bell and his wife Florence and their son Paul. The novel looks at their lives and roles they played in the aftermath of these bombings where many people were killed and injured and many people were made homeless as the bombs destroyed many buildings in Belfast and the city was unrecognizable. I was intrigued to follow the love lives of these characters especially the sisters Audrey and Emma as after the traumatic events they question their lives and how they can rebuild and adjusted to what has happened. I would recommend this story if you enjoy historical war fiction.
