I loved this idea of the book and really wanted to find it an enjoyable read. I often enjoy books based on the war especially those with female characters but I didnt feel drawn to either of main characters. The other characters also lacked any feeling or emotion.
Unfortunately it fell really flat for me. The writing style seemed dull and wasn't enjoyable to read. The characters and storyline lacked depth. I found it difficult to imagine the characters and gain any emotional attachment to them at all. Despite enjoying other books with chapters based on different characters this felt disjointed. It definitely wasn't a page turner at all.
I would be interested to read the authors other work to see if the other stories are in a similar style or whether this is a one off. Overall sadly not a book for me, although it may appeal more to other people.
