I really enjoyed this book. It is really nicely written and raises interesting issues surrounding identity, racism and human behaviour. The story centres around Bilal, a Muslim man who lives in a quintessentially small English village. There is unrest in the village when Bilal shares his aim of building a Mosque there, in order to fulfill his Mother's dying wish. I enjoyed learning a little more about Bilal and his family's culture throughout the story. As well as Bilal there are several other interesting characters. Many of whom find themselves on journeys of self-discovery as Bilal works to secure the Mosque. My favourite character was Khala, Bilal's Pakistani Aunt. I liked how her character developed throughout the book. Overall a pleasant read that gets you thinking.
