Intriguing And Uplifting...
This witty and heart touching novel follows the life of middle class Bilal Hasham and his experience as a Muslim attempting to build a mosque to fulfil the dying wish of his late mother.
This story is warm and witty and hilarious, exploring the intricacies of a mixed family in the sleepy English village of Babel’s End.
It’s beautiful and excellently written, not only a life affirming story about love and family but also the difficulties and prejudices truly face on a day to day basis as Muslims living in England, a note I related upon very much and would highly recommend any others looking for fun and warm yet aware of real life issues for Muslim representation in literature.
Ayisha Malik has such a brilliant writing style and reading this novel lead me to many of her other novels I highly recommend checking out all her other works including one of my faves a Muslim Bridget Jones-esque protagonist in The Other Half of Happiness!
