I loved everything about this book.

The cover, bright and enticing really draws you in.

You're introduced to the story by the main characters mother dying. It gracefully portrays how she feels about her faith and how she would like her children to follow in her footsteps and not be ashamed of what they are or how they feel.

After this, you're thrown straight into the book. Family life. Mariam being unsure of how she feels about her religion or about her husband. He is grieving, missing his mother and also feels guilty for turning his back on his faith.

He wants to honour his mother by building a mosque in his very English home town. Shows the sides to 2 different cultures and the difficulties still faced today.

An excellent read, would definitely recommend.
