This spellbinding extract has me hooked like Lira on a Prince's heart. Resonant of a Sarah J Maas and filled with just as much captivating characters and luscious settings, To Kill a Kingdom seems to have an amazing world of a backdrop to set the tantalizing tale of a soft siren and a lethal prince.

Lira is the daughter of the Sea Queen and is expected to inherit her throne in no more than three years but when she displeases her mother by robbing a prince's heart early she's punished with losing the power that human hearts bring to sirens. As an extra punishment her mother decrees she will also have to present a sailors heart instead of a prince's on her birthday; losing her people's respect and just be receiving a title rather than earning it. The oceans are her home.

Elian, or as he prefers to be called Cap short for Captain because he knows he's more pirate than prince. He's made it his mantle to hunt sirens and keep the oceans safe, even if that means sacrificing a small part of his humanity as one does when you become a killer because even he knows that although sirens dissolve back into sea form when they die- he is taking life, someone's mother or sister. He will do anything to protect humans and keep the oceans safe. The oceans are his home.
