I don't understand the rave reviews of this book. Maybe I am missing something crucial but I've struggled through to page 41 and just can't continue with it.
I have no empathy for any of the characters (which I presume is the author's intention), I intensely dislike the writing style and how the first 20 pages basically covered one event - a good chunk of the book given that it's only 200 pages long - and the main interest point of the story, that 'Abe' was in fact his wife, was given away on the dust jacket!
It's such a shame as I was really looking forward to reading this book, it seemed such an interesting topic and I would have liked to see how it played out but I'm afraid this one is going straight the the charity shop where hopefully it will find a home with someone who can enjoy it.
