The cover is quite stark, with hard lined shapes and almost devoid of colour, which is in stark contrast to the soft, pink cuddly baby, introduced almost immediately at the start of the book.
The fleeting words exchanged by Kathryn and Ellen seemed inconsequential at first, but within a few pages, by the time Ellen is left cradling the baby, each moment of their encounter has become heavy with mystery and questions.
The fate of this innocent baby is in Ellen’s hands, but I wanted to find out what she would do? Would emotional mothering instinct lead her to keep a baby that isn’t hers, or would common sense prevail, but risking danger to the baby’s safety? Who was the colourless man following her from the station? A great, tense start to the story, and I’d like to read on.
