Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this novel. I liked the idea of the two storylines, one set in the past following Nina whilst the other is set in the present following Lottie who’s attempting to uncover the truth about Nina’s death. However, this wasn’t executed well as Lottie’s parts were often extremely boring and Nina’s parts focused too much on her relationship with Leo rather than her work as a spy, which was by far the more interesting aspect of her character. I found it hard to connect with the characters - Lottie didn’t have much of a personality aside from her obsession with Nina, and her husband was unlikeable making it hard to care about their relationship. Ultimately, the story fell short of the mark for me as I didn’t care much about the characters, I was bored at times by the plot and the mystery part of the storyline wasn’t utilised enough for me.
