I really enjoyed this book, set in Cardiff and starting with the bombing of a market in the Bay.
It's a fast paced story, switching between the points of view of the terrorists and the main protagonist DC Will MacReady. I don't like starting a series in the middle and was a little hesitant having not read the first book, but the author does a great job of filling in any background so I didn't feel I was in the dark with any previous story lines.
The novel is written by an ex police man from the city and it really shows in his knowledge of procedure as well as the evocative description of Cardiff.
I raced through this in a couple of days (I literally couldn't put it down!) and loved the twists and turns of the story, the outcome of which I couldn't guess due to Thomas' clever red herrings.
I will definitely be buying the first book of the series and was excited to see that one of his other novels, Ugly Bus, is in development as a 6 part series by BBC Wales.
