I had high expectations for this book but unfortunately I found it a little slow going.
The characters were described with feeling especially the children, Duchess and a Robin, who you ended up feeling really sorry for.
Chief Walker, the local policeman had obviously lived in the small town all of his life and considered himself a true friend to Vincent, the man who had spent thirty years in prison.
On release Vincent was accused of murdering the childre’s mother.
The poor young girl who set fire to the local club was hunted down by the owner for a tape tale cleared him of arson so he could claim the insurance.
The relationship between the children was heart warming.
Even though I found it a little slow I did enjoy the twists and turns of the plot.
