Having never read a book by this author I was taking a bit of a punt when I brought this off the back of seeing many positive reviews on book twitter. I was very glad I did though; the writing is absolutely stunning and I got completely drawn in and lost in We Begin at the End. A vulnerable Mum who’s best is simply not good enough, a sisters unconditional love for her younger sibling and an ex convict released to the town he grew up in. Their worlds, which have always been intertwined, now collide at full force and none of them will ever be the same again.
The story is very very good but it’s the writing that did it for me. I don’t think I’ve ever read such a beautifully written yet sad book before this one. It really pulled at my heartstrings as I was able to visualise every person and setting.
I will be on the hunt for the authors books past and future now.
