The Characters in this book were so likeable (yes even poor misunderstood Jimmy). The way Ross delt with his cancer and treatment was remarkable. The array of emotions he went through were captured beautifully with the author drawing on his own personal experiences of going through the same type of rare eye cancer Ross had. The relationships Ross had with others were very believable. The fact as well as going through cancer at such a young age he had to deal with his best friend Abbie and her family moving away and his other best friend as Issac dropping him like a ton of bricks ignoring him with no word of why. The turbulent relationship with his dad and step mum knowing this was going to be particularly difficult for him as he had lost his first wife Ross's Mum to cancer when Ross was younger. I particularly loved his relationship with Frank and how he used music as a way of release. The little illustrations and Batpig comic stripes brought a little humour to what otherwise could have been a depressing subject to write about, Where as the author brought the story to life with humour and it worked. Not many books leave a lasting impression but this one did.
