'Babygirl, babygirl, babygirl'
The cover of the book is beautiful. It's different to other novels with the style but the colours pop and the images online do not do it justice. However, I didn't really enjoy the contents of this book. I truly wanted too, but my god, if I have to read 'Babygirl' one more time I might have to rip my eyeballs out. There also seemed to be an issue with consistency. Emoni and her family were struggling financially however she could afford to send her daughter to day care, which is ridiculously expense AND buy saffron? A spice more expensive than gold. I don't know about this book, I love how Elizabeth Acevedo describes food, it's a talent that she firmly has, but the rest of the book seemed disjointed to me. Although all opinions are my own, I would like to thank Hot Key Books and Readers First for an advanced publication copy.
