I did not know that this book was part of a series featuring DS Nathan Cody, however this novel can still be read as a stand-alone as there is enough background information.
This novel was gripping and I was hooked immediately. The relationships between the characters are complex and there is more than can be seen on the surface.
Sara’s husband has been gruesomely murdered, and she is determined to investigate. The last phone call she received from her husband only increased her suspicions.
Meanwhile DS Nathan Cody is suffering from trauma experienced from the last case (which involves clowns!)
The chapters are short and snappy which helps with developing the tension and suspense.
This book is an absolutely terrifying thriller and the antagonists are especially creepy.
