A well written thriller that keeps you turning the pages. Sara, recently separated, returns from a weekend away to find a disturbing message on her answerphone from her husband. Racing to his apartment she finds he has been brutally murdered. Sara does not believe the police will be able to solve the crime so sets out to find her husband’s killer. Meanwhile. DS Cody is suffering from post-traumatic stress following an ambush during an undercover operation that left his partner dead. Given only a peripheral role in the murder investigation he is the only one who does not feel Sara is somehow implicated in her husband’s death.

The story is obviously one of a series with many details from previous ones being recounted. Perhaps too much - I don’t feel like I need to read the earlier books. While well written with good character development and a story line that kept me wanting to read on I did not find the plot believable. Even so - it was an entertaining way to spend a few evenings and if I encountered another of Mr Jackson’s novels I’d be sure to pick it up.
