This is book four in the DS Cody series but I have only read one other (Don't Make a Sound) and I would say that you don't need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.
Sara has recently split up with her husband Matthew and one night she returns home to a cryptic answer phone message from him. She races over to his house only to be met with the most horror of horrors. Cody is still suffering from torments of his own and now he has a new and disturbing case to solve. As the story progresses I was soon drawn into it, there is a dual storyline of Sara and Cody both trying to find answers to their own demons and it had my attention 100%, a very cleverly written physcological thriller and one I would definitely recommend.
