Whilst perhaps lacking in the fast pace that some books have to reel you in. I found I still flew through it. Really enjoyed the scenes and atmosphere that J Carol is building in these opening pages.
We're introduced to the main characters and they are fleshed out considerably along with their backgrounds, so that I could really picture them.
The trauma was conveyed in a good way that wasn't too in your face, and from the blurb I am intrigued to see where this thriller is going.
Perfect choice to end the first look where it did, as I'm on tenterhooks as too what's about to happen
Also a really nice simple cover that still manages to look like a thriller novel,all in all a very positive start
