I really loved the way this opened, it gives you a goal to achieve, something to figure out by the time the novel ends.
I find the character of Nikki interesting as it's slowly revealed that there is a reason why she is wary and nervous of her possible dangers her daughter could encounter. I can't wait to read more about the new house and what happened with the opening snippet.
