17 Church Row by James Carol starts off as a gentle story about a couple, Ethan and Nikki, setting off to view a house with their daughter, Bella. However the tension soon starts to build, the house is very modern with a virtual assistant supposedly able to predict the occupants needs which does come across as rather uncomfortable to most people. Ethan and Bella both love the house but NIkki isn't so sure. The family are planning to move as two years earlier Bella's twin sister, Grace, had gone out of their door to chase a ball, ran into the road and been killed by a van so the memories are full of sadness which only a move away from the scene of the accident might alleviate. Bella has been mute since the accident and Nikki hopes a doctor her housekeeper has mentioned might be able to help her. The tension continues to mount as the 'first look' closes with Nikki calling for Bella, hearing no sound of movement, she panics and runs to find her but she isn't in her room. Readers are left desperate to find out if Nikki finds Bella, if the family move to the new house and is there something not quite right about Alice, the virtual assitant. Can't wait to read the rest of this thrilling book.
