A smart idea of a book that highlights how technology has come to dominate many of our domestic lives, and the dangers that could bring.

The characters were realistic and the writing conjured up the "smart home" in all its shiny glory. A couple are trying to rebuild their lives after a family tragedy and in search of "safety" buy a technology-equipped home. However, the tech turns nasty and starts to put their lives in greater danger than anything in the outside world.

This was a great premise to explore, but I found it dragged and the technology aspects inevitably ended up feeling somewhat cold, losing the human emotion behind the novel.

Elements of it did indeed grip me, but towards the end I started to lose interest and it closed with a whimper rather than a bang. But still a clever idea and I enjoyed it nonetheless. 2.5 starts if possible!
