I enjoyed this book from the very first page. James Carol is a new author for me, and the first book I’ve read from him. The storyline was great, even if it was a bit out there. It surrounds new technology with regards to Alice who is the AI who controls the house, which is somethings that’s not a million miles in the future. I really enjoyed the character of Nikki, who moved to 17 Church Row to help move on after the death of her daughter, the depth of her character was great. This isn’t like any other books I’ve read, which is completely refreshing in itself. Nikki’s husband Ethan comes across as a workaholic, and they also have another daughter Bella who is mute after seeing her sister killed. I really wanted to see more of Bella’s character but because she was mute there wasn’t many dimensions to her character the reader was able to explore.
Overall I really did enjoy this book.
