I’m working my way through the T. M. Logan books and listened to the audiobook of this one.

Sarah is in her 30s and has worked hard in her role at a university. She’s hoping for promotion but her boss is a really vile man. He has a reputation for harassing his female staff and has made Sarah’s working life a misery for years.

A chance encounter with a dodgy Russian “businessman” could give Sarah the opportunity to deal with her boss, but will she take it?

I really didn’t like Sarah’s character much at all, I couldn’t warm to her and she just seemed like such a moaning Minnie about everything. Most of the other characters I thought weren’t that well developed so I didn’t really like or care about any of them.

The chapters are nice and short but unfortunately I found the story quite slow paced. I was expecting quite a fast paced and tense story so I was a bit disappointed. The story picks up a little towards the end but not much.
There are a couple of twists but I wasn’t that shocked or gripped by them.

There were frequent scenes of Sarah’s children fighting with each other which didn’t add anything to the story for me and I don’t know what the point of it was. The sub-plot about her husband didn’t seem that relevant either and fizzled out.

The narration was good but the story was just ok.
I’ve enjoyed other books by this author so I’m not put off his books, I just didn’t really like this one.
