Intriguing opening, I'm desperate to know what comes next!
This book definitely grips from the first page. It opens with a fire alarm going off in a Dublin apartment block during the first pandemic lockdown. Something has happened, but no-one is sure what just yet and people are aching to find out what is going on.
The narrative then switches back 56 days to a meet-cute in a supermarket between Clara and Oliver, as we follow this first meeting from Clara's point-of-view and get a well-developed sense of her excitement and anticipation at this new encounter.
The third chapter shifts back to the present and a Dublin detective is getting a colleague out of trouble when set gets a call to say that a body has been found in an apartment block, the same block that we started the novel at.
This was a great suspense-filled opener to what looks as if it will be a gripping story. I can't wait to read on and find out what happens next!
