I've only ever read one other book so far that mentions covid, and it seemed more tacked on afterward than being an integral part of the story. Lockdowns do seem prime material for murders, all that time without other people knowing where you could be or who with, plenty of time for someone to cover their tracks, surprised not to see it used more, maybe this is the first of a wave of lockdown material we could be about to see.

The suspense even of who the body is is killing me, the extract doesn't help whether it's the guy or the girl, even though the burb hints more towards her being dead, the fact that it is in his house makes me think it could still be otherwise, i mean if he was the killer then he wouldn't really be doing the murder and leaving the body to decompose in full view in his own house.

I'm not really a fan of the cover, what has a clock got to do with anything? Assuming the 56 days are how long the body has been decomposing for, so a 24 hour clock seems pointless. Unless it comes to have some sort of meaning later in the story it doesn't seem to fit at all here.
