This is a psychological thriller that will certainly pull you deep into the storyline. Set in Ireland during the covid lockdown, two people meet up buying their lunch in Tesco's and decide that they don't want to be alone during lockdown and as she has just a tiny studio flat they decide to stay together in his flash new apartment. But that was 56 days ago and now one of them has been found in a decomposing state in the bathroom, but who is it? The police officer in charge of the case certainly needs a strong stomach when working on solving this murder (or is it murder)!! A pack of date rape drugs was found in the bathroom cabinet, surely the victim didn't take it on their own?
Although there are not many characters in this book, which ones are do grip you by the throat and make you read on and even when I was over half way through I had no idea who did what and even nearing the end I still got it wrong about how it was going to pan out. Most of the storyline takes place in Dublin in a block of flats with a minimal amount of characters because it is set in covid lockdown times and that's how it was.
The front cover of this book is superb, it looks like broken glass from a clock face, is this a clue to what lies inside the book? As the days in the story drop down from 56 days to 34 to 28 to 18, then back up to 78 days, you are reading what happened and then it goes to "today" then "tonight" and the police investigation and to bring it all together "3 days from now" a very clever concept that certainly works. A compulsive page turner this will keep you hooked till the end of the book. Well worthy of 5 stars. I know some readers don't like to read books set in covid times, but read this you won't be disappointed.
