Cast your mind back a zillion light years ago- to the start of the coronavirus pandemic. And then meet Oliver and Ciara. Their paths collide in a supermarket and as the coronavirus regulations kick in, it becomes hard to bend the rules in order to allow their relationship to develop. Until Oliver suggests that Ciara move in with him. Yes it’s early days but in this new world there’s no room for hesitation despite these two people barely knowing one another.

Fast forward 56 days when the police have been called to Oliver’s accommodation - where a decomposing body has been left, undiscovered for some time…

This was a fascinating reminder of the early days of the pandemic, and well written with a decent plot. I got a little confused with the jumping around of timelines though, and I didn’t find it, well, thrilling enough. Unfortunately I had also recently read a brilliant book with a similar development, so this didn’t quite match up in comparison.

It’s still a great book, cleverly plotted and I loved the lurking and menacing backdrop of covid.
