This was one of those books that hooked me from the start. The sort of book where there’s no point in the story which you can take a break from reading as the mystery gradually unfolded.

I read The Nothing Man also by Catherine Ryan Howard was one of my favourite reads last year. Therefore I went into 56 days both excited and also a little apprehensive in case this book didn’t live up to my expectations.

56 days centres around Ciara and Oliver who meet in Ireland just days before National lockdown due to COVID-19. They decide to spend the six weeks living together as it seems the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better. But both of them are keeping secrets. The story begins in the present with the discovery of a rotting corpse before going back 56 days and telling the story in alternating perspectives of Ciara and Oliver of events that led to the dead body being found.

This was a really twisty story that kept me guessing. I think it was very clever how coronavirus was written into the book. Another fantastic thriller from Catherine Ryan Howard.
