‘People think the decisions you make that change the course of your life are the big ones. Marriage proposals. House moves. Job applications. But she knows it’s the little ones, the tiny moments, that really plot the course.’

56 Days is a thriller set in an Irish Covid 19 lockdown where 2 people who have just started seeing each other make the plunge and move in together…now one of them is dead.

I have loved every book from Catherine Ryan Howard that I’ve read so far and this completely lived up to my expectations. It is told from multiple POVs which I love and usually keeps me guessing for longer. It’s a slow burner but really leaves you longing to read on for more. I enjoyed it while Ciara and Oliver were getting to know each other and it would slip from one POV to the other and completely change my guess as to what was going on. However, my favourite had to be the forensic chapters. I LOVE anything forensic and crime scenes so I completely got my fill of it in this story.

I was worried I would be frustrated with the Covid aspects of this book-is it too soon? Am I too bombarded with virus talk in every day life? Will it be too negative and take its toll on me? This wasn’t the case. I could relate to and remember certain parts of it and the idea of this felt more plausible.

Overall, a good thriller that keeps you guessing and throwing more twists at you.
