I think Catherine Ryan Howard is a truly excellent author and I thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into 56 Days. I love the split of the timeline and the multiple perspectives offered throughout the book. I am very impressed by how quickly she has managed to create a story out of lockdown and how gripping it was. I think it was a very cleverly thought out plot which held my attention throughout. Had I not had to work I would most definitely have read it in one sitting. I think this may even be my favourite of her work, although The Nothing Man is also pretty hard to beat. This book will suit a reader who likes a good thriller with suspense and twists to keep them hooked and guessing. I liked the Irish setting and found it quite easy to picture the scenes described. This is a book which would make a really good movie or television series adaptation I think.
