56 days is an intense and cleverly structured thriller set during the first Covid lockdown in Dublin, it has a complex narrative with a dual timeline and multiple perspectives. Starting with the discovery of a decomposing body in an apartment it then jumps back 56 days to the first meeting of the main characters, Ciara and Oliver. The story then switches back and forth between the investigation and the progress of their relationship. There are secrets on both sides and, as you see the same events from both Ciara and Oliver's viewpoints, the plot shifts and twists brilliantly, leading to a shocking finale.

This is the second book I've read by Catherine Ryan Howard and I love her writing style, she has a knack for combining intriguing plots with engaging characters that have believable reactions and realistic dialogue. If you like gripping and inventive thrillers I highly recommend her books.
