I haven’t read a book set during the pandemic so I wasn’t sure about this one. However, I had seen so many good reviews on social media, I thought I should give it a try.
I really enjoy crime fiction and I thought the plot sounded interesting.

The cover is simple, yet eye catching, and I would definitely pick it up if I saw it on a bookshelf.

Ciara and Oliver meet in a supermarket in Dublin, and start going out just as Covid hits and lockdown begins. They decide to move in together so they can still see each other.
Both Ciara and Oliver are hiding big secrets.

Lee and Karl are police officers, tasked with the case of a body being found in Oliver’s apartment.
Something doesn’t add up, but can they work out what really happened?

I found this easy to read and got into the story quite quickly. It’s set in Dublin, during the first coronavirus lockdown.
Each chapter is from a different time period, the fifty six days leading up to the present day. It’s from the point of view of one of the main characters, and I didn’t find it too hard to follow.

The chapters leave you wanting to find out more, and it keeps you reading. The truth is slowly revealed, with some twists along the way.

I would have liked a bit more from the police officers as their dynamic was quite funny at times, and a nice distraction from the doom and gloom of lockdown.

I liked the characters in this book, especially Ciara and Oliver. Strangely, I always liked Oliver’s character, despite the red flags.
I liked Ciara initially but grew to dislike her. In a way, I see where she was coming from, but still felt sorry for Oliver.

The idea for the book was a bit different and I enjoyed it overall. A couple of parts I wasn’t sure were that realistic, but not so much that it spoiled my enjoyment of the story.

I would recommend this book and will be reading more from this author.
