Today I used my last day of annual leave wisely and finished 56 days by @cathryanhoward
Since it was posted that she was writing a new book I have been so excited!! You can see I have read all of her books quite close together because I just really enjoy the writing style and the plots. Catherine is one of the best crime writers I have come across and I would definitely put her at top 3. This new book did not disappoint.

It follows a couple who meet just before lockdown and start dating but when lockdown comes, in order to make sure they don't lose the connection they made the couple agree to move in with each other.
Right away I was hooked. Most authors are looking to ignore lockdown but I feel that this is such a missed opportunity and I'm really glad that the author took this. This was not what I expected at all.
Each chapter is split into different perspectives. You have the perspective of Ciara, and Oliver from the start of their relationship and then from the Gardai officer Lee after a body is found in the apartment.
Straight away my mind starts thinking of scenarios, but each time I think I have caught onto what's happening, something else happens and it's a total plot twist. This book left me gripped after every chapter as there was always something that was suspicious that you think will give you a lead to the answers. At the end of this, I was really surprised by the outcome but I loved it. It was such an original twist to a crime fiction novel but in a way that was so believable that if you told me this was a story written about a true crime case I would not bat an eyelid.

The split perspective Is so interesting as you see the same points of time in both Oliver and Ciara perspective, each with a different motive or view point to the same circumstance and it made it feel really sinister in places. I think that this was the perfect writing style for this plot line.
The only bad thing I have to say is the book is now finished and I have to wait for the next one...
