This is the first novel that I have read that is set during the Covid-19 pandemic and I wasn’t sure how I would find reading a book in this setting. I was surprisingly fine with it and was not disappointed by this fast paced thriller by Catherine Ryan Howard.
56 Days follows the story of Ciara and Oliver who live in Dublin as the first lockdown is about to begin. As the story unfolds, we follow their relationship and it’s clear things are not what they seem.
The chapters in this novel flip between a time period over many weeks which really add to the pace of the story. I actually read this book in a day; I was gripped throughout it and needed to keep reading on to find out what would happen to the characters at the end.
I think this may be start of many books set during the pandemic - this one was a really good read and one I will definitely recommend to others.
