I must admit I was sceptical about reading a book taking place in such a recent past. Covid 19 was incredibly traumatic for the entire world, but the author managed to capture all the raw feelings and emotions we all no doubt had in such a way that it didn't dwell on it.

The actual pandemic and isolation really wasn't the centre of the novel. Yes, it's there. It's mentioned and some of the events occur because of the situation we all found ourselves in, however the book focused more on the thriller and mystery aspects of the novel, for which I am thankful.

It's no secret that I enjoy alternating perspectives, and this had them in bucket loads. Not only from both central characters and the Detective eventually investigating the case, but we also read chapters from variety of different times within the 56 days the storyline is crafted around. I know this can put people off, reading too many perspectives and alternating times, but I found these were easily navigated.

A brilliant quick read full of mystery and secrets, lies and twists.
