Shocking, clever and scarily realistic.

This was my first COVID themed read and it was scarily realistic! I was drawn in by the lockdown murder premise, but I continued to read on for the clever plot and twists and turns. The Crossings Complex is a great setting, with isolated neighbours who prefer to keep to themselves and not ask questions. It is eerie and there are secrets throughout! I loved the switch between character POVs and time periods, it keeps the reader in suspense and I was on the edge of my seat with the cliff-hanger chapters! The novel is part thriller and part police procedural, with people’s underlying paranoia slowly revealing itself. Ciara and Oliver are brilliant characters from page 1, both seemingly sweet and normal, if a little on edge with first date nerves! Who is the victim and who is the villain? It’s so clever! I also loved the reference to the author’s previous book, The Nothing Man.
