I had high hopes for this book after reading The Nothing Man, and Catherine Ryan Howard did not disappoint! I was apprehensive after finding that the book is set during COVID times, as I have found this a bit too 'present'-time in previous books, however I didn't find that at all in this case; the mention of COVID was just right, and didn't take away from the main story.

56 Days had be hooked from the beginning, and I read the book in 48 hours! From the start, the reader is lead to believe that Oliver is the 'villain', and this is maintained until the body is revealed as being male.. and then the twists start! Ciara is written as a likeable, naive, character from the beginning of the book, and the romantic connection between her and Oliver seems real.. the suspense surrounding both their true identities and their past builds as the chapters continue, and once again, the blame is thrown back&forth between them. Catherine Ryan Howard finished the book very cleverly, keeping the reader guessing right until the end.

I found this an incredibly gripping and enjoyable read, and would 100% recommend to any thriller/crime novel-lovers.
