Like her other books, Catherine Ryan Howard has produced another clever plot with unexpected twists in 56 days. This book is very topical set during the Covid global pandemic with which we are all familiar and which still affects our lives in so many ways today.
It is difficult to review the story and characters without spoiling the experience of reading this book for others. The action skips about backwards and forwards over a period of about 10 weeks and sometimes repeats itself although from another characters view point. This normally frustrates me as a reader and I just want the author to get on with telling a straightforward story. However, I didn’t feel this with 56 days- it was like picking up random bits of a jigsaw puzzle and trying to work out how they related to each other and fit together to produce a complete picture. The final picture is definitely not one which I had imagined!
I loved the repartee and Irish wit between the two detectives and also between Caria and Oliver.
