well written historical fiction but story is not for me

Unfortunately this one is not for me. I found myself uninterested in the characters and I didn't want to find out what happens next. This might be good for existing fans of this author, it's clearly very well written and I like how the characters are laid out at the beginning so we get to know who is who. I love the addition of a wedding invitation as the first page. This is a well researched book and if you enjoy the story then it would be a good read for long quiet festive evenings.
