Anton tends to appeal to the "slightly older" lady on Strictly and this books is definitely designed to appeal to that fan base.
Based around a hotel (especially it's ballroom) the book follows the stories of several characters, who face their own specific challenges.
We're in a pre-war era with the story spanning 1938 - and one of the recurring themes is just how different life was for women then.
The principal belle of the ballroom comes from an aristocratic family but has fallen from grace and been exiled.
Meanwhile her leading man, Raymond de Guise, is an East End boy made good and about to marry chambermaid Nancy Nettleton. She can't wait to be married but is uneasy about settling into, what is deemed as, traditional wedded bliss.
With cross class relationships, spying intrigue, long lost children and a suspicious death at hotel there is a lot going on.
I can't say that I was gripped but it was a fairly easy read and will definitely appeal to Anton's fans.
