Magical!
This book was a real magical adventure. Set in the rumblings of World War Two, the Buckingham hotel is home to a variety of different guests and staff. There’s a scandal around every corner but it’s the resilience of the characters that sing from the pages.
I thought this book was a really lovely read. I’m a huge fan of Anton du Beke and I thought he’d created quite a lovely story.
The plot was good and clearly well thought of. I thought it was developed quite nicely. There were characters I naturally liked which meant I quickly became vested in their narrative.
Dancing is also a key feature - in fact it is the linchpin to the whole plot. Dancing saves them all from what is happening in the miserable and worrying world around them.
There’s a perfect balance of history, drama, good characters and love. I thought this was a remarkable read and really enjoyed reading it.
