I enjoyed this and I've never read a historical fiction before!

I have never read a historical fiction before, I just didn't think I would enjoy them. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself engrossed in Amelia's story. I didn't quite understand the family tree at the beginning but when you've read the extract you can refer to the family tree to check how they're all related. I managed to keep up with who was who, but there were a lot of names mentioned so the family tree is a very good addition. I don't like the cover. I tend to ignore all historical fiction/saga covers that look like this - they all look the same to me. This was my first experience reading a historical fiction and I found myself wanting to read more and finding out what happens, so this just shows how well this has been written by the author. The author described the time period very well and I felt myself being transported to this time. I feel like a reader could be whisked away to a different time whilst reading this book and it could be a wonderful escape from modern life. I would like to read on to find out what happens to Amelia and what decisions she will make.
