I do usually like historical novels. However I’m not a fan of either Catherine Cookson or Poldark which the cover was intending to reference . The writing is a trifle breathless and gushing, leading to me an instant dislike to the characters - especially the apparently saintly Luke. However if you do like these writers it will be right up your street. Also I got a distinct feeling of coming in in the middle so I assume this is part of a series so it might be a disadvantage that I have never read the previous books. I’ll give it a miss
