I enjoyed this book but it wont be on top of my list. I would say its a bit feminine and my wife enjoyed it more. I like the background of the story, author is very good in detailing things about that time - decorations, rooms, clothes and other elements. Story itself is a suprise from the beginning because you dont expect man to come back after his lover though he is gone. A lot of romance in the book, emotional rollercoaster between lovers set up in nice historical settings of historic times. Reading this book you can actually learn about some habits from the past, culture and society which we might not all like in current times. I felt like I am actually walking those streets and meeting people from the end of eighteen century. This is a masterclass from the author to be able to create the reality where you can actually find yourself and forget about reality. However as I said - wife gave it more stars then me.
