This is a historical novel set in the 1800's. The book follows the life of the character Amelia. Amelia falls in love with Edmund who is away with the navy and the story follows what happens when he goes missing presumed dead. Trying to carry on with her life Amelia marries Luke but there is a twist as she receives a letter from Edmund who is alive! She is torn between the past and the present. I enjoyed the book , particularly the family tree at the start as I found the book was complicated at one spot and this helped me work out who was who! There is a lot of detail and description at times and i had to re-read parts but this doesn't detract from the book. That said i enjoyed the book a lot, I had not read the author before but would do in the future as this was an enjoyable read. I would recommend this book to those that enjoy romance and historical fiction.
