I enjoyed this book a great deal, I am not a very big fan of historical romance but somehow this book captures my attention throughout the way.
The book follows Amelia, who has recently fallen in love with Dr Luke Bohenna. She still grieves the loss of her fiancé Edmund, who went missing in the navy (assumed to be dead). But Edmund is alive and returns to her life as a very changed man.
The book was well thought out, the atmosphere was very well written and you could actually feel the history around you in the descriptions.
I loved how it had a twist, it was almost thriller like and a very surprising development along the way.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good historical fiction, there was a bit of everything, romance with a sinister twist, Bronte like elements and thriller like elements. All in all it was an enjoyable read! :)
